Boy 1
main character of the story. Ends up having a huge crush on the girl but doesn’t know it. He tries to hide it but eventually the butterflies erupts from his stomach, revealing his true feelings. He always has his baseball cap on.
Girl 1
Boy 1’s love interest. Doesn’t have much to do in the film besides she seems to be indifferent towards the boy. The audience is not sure whether or not she likes him back. She’s nice though to him wither or not she is interested. Carries around a wagon.
Boy posse
Boy’s butterfly
Direct reflection of Boy 1’s true feelings. If boy is feeling love struck, then the butterfly is also love struck. If Boy 1 is nervous, so is the butterfly.
Girl’s butterfly
The same as Boy 1’s butterfly. A direct reflection of girl 1’s feelings. But we don’t see her butterfly until the end.

Butterfly Myth
Boy meets girl and butterflies start growing in his stomach. At first it starts with him just getting a stomach ache and not knowing why. But the more he meets the girl the worse his stomach ache becomes. When he is by himself he thinks about the girl, and accidentally burps out a butterfly. He’s confused. He talks to the girl again but this time in the middle of their conversation, his stomach ache gets really bad and an entire hoard of butterfly erupt from his stomach. He turns around in embarrassment but then the girl stops him from leaving and hands him something. It’s a jar with her own butterfly flying around in it, showing him that she gets butterflies in her stomach from him as well.
